I remember getting up early in the morning to work on this piece, with the following message in my mind: “how is it possible that I can't get where I want to go with this painting? I had spent the day struggling with it and had hit a roadblock. When that happens to me, I get very frustrated and, although I usually put it aside waiting to reconnect with it, there remains in me a discomfort, almost a darkness, that stays with me until I restart the session and it fades into it.
 
This time I couldn't wait for the next day. That feeling of uneasiness was too intense, it wouldn't let me sleep and I had to get up in the middle of the night to face the painting again.  After working on it for a few more hours, I was able to reach a place of peace of mind.

Over the next few days I finished it and titled it Iridescence because of how the color takes over the figure, drawn in black line, and manages to triumph over the initial somber state. From the artist, and from the image.
